Valentino vs Mummy

http://www.virtourist.com/africa/cairo/42.htm

This is a photograph of a mummy from a museum in Cairo, Egypt. The interesting thing about Egyptian culture is that the people wanted to preserve their dead bodies to keep them safe and contained for the afterlife. They used fine linen to wrap the bodies of the dead. The horizontal strips of fabric create a rhythmic effect.

This dress is from Valentino's Spring 2010 Collection. Its fabric is very lightweight and it appears to be wrapped around the body. The majority of the dress is a nude or cream color, so it resembles the stained linen discovered on the mummy body. The fabric appears as if it is just raveling off the body, and if someone pulled on the yellow fabric, the dress would fall apart.
